Introducing Journey to PhD

I am currently on a journey to earn my Doctoral degree in Engineering-Engineering Education with a dissertation topic focus in Cyber Security. This journey so far as been topsy-turvy to say the least. However, it has made me a better student, teacher and person thanks to my family, advisor and church.

When I first embarked on this journey it was for the wrong reasons. I am woman enough to say, ” I went back to school due to outside influences and not solely because I wanted to be Dr. So and So.” Due to me not originally pursuing my Phd for the right reasons it was harder. I had an idea of what I wanted to research but that changed. It was like I was lost, not able to find my way in a sea of topics, professors, classes, etc. Now at year 4 I feel as though I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. SO close yet it still seems so far away. Feels as if I can just reach out my hand and touch that doctoral degree. The light at the end of the tunnel is shining I just have to keep pushing forward.

Which leads me to the series Journey to PhD where I go into detail about how I started this Journey and the ups and downs that have come with it. Most importantly why this journey, although tedious has been well worth it and why quitting is not an option. My hope is that my story will encourage someone else to take the plunge and decide to get their PhD.

Enjoy the Journey with me!!

Love always,

Lit Hope L
